Install Nodal VPN Community Edition

Choose Docker, a virtual appliance, or another supported platform.

Run Nodal VPN and its required services with Docker Compose.

Docker ports & installation details

The supplied Compose configuration uses these default ports:

  • 56443 - Nodal HTTPS server
  • 56222 - Windows Connect service
  • 51820/udp - WireGuard VPN

To override them, set the Compose variables before running the command, for example:

curl -sL https://j-l.ink/nodal-vpn | \
  VPN_HTTPS_SERVER_PORT=443 \
  VPN_WINDOWS_CONNECT_PORT=42222 \
  VPN_UDP_PORT=51280 \
  docker compose -f - up -d

The Compose configuration also creates the required MongoDB service and persistent Docker volumes automatically.
